"The Two Rivers" a piece written by Richard D. Hall for wind ensemble, was premiered on November 16, 2013, by the Texas State University Wind Symphony under the direction of Dr. Caroline Beatty, Assistant Professor and Director of Bands at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. The work is inspired by a comparison of two rivers located in the southern part of the United States: the quick and aggressive flow of the San Marcos River in San Marcos, TX, and the quiet easiness of the "Still Water" Creek located in Stillwater, OK. The title is taken from the Henry Wadsworth Longfellow poem "The Two Rivers" in which two rivers are used as metaphors for the past and the future. It was commissioned by the Theta Alpha chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi from Texas State University, San Marcos, TX. The slide show contains pictures of both rivers.
